”Ugra” sledge hockey players opened a new season. The athletes are being trained in Kislovodsk. Ugra sledge hockey team started a new season with the training activities in the city-resort of Kislovodsk. According to the coach Aleksandr Zykov, at this stage the emphasis is laid on general physical training: “The athletes are mainly trained in the gym. The team includes five new athletes who appeared in the club at the end of the previous season. The guys work with great dedication and wish to take the ice as soon as possible.

Today on July 14 presentation of Sledge Hockey Club “Ugra” was held in Khanty-Mansiysk Territorial Committee of the Public Chamber of Ugra. The meeting was devoted to the state support of legal entities developing playing, priority sports in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra. Director of the club Valentina Sivkova presented a report on sledge hockey development.

Yesterday on March 11 the national sledge hockey team of Russia beat the team of the USA in the preliminary match of the Paralympic Games and became the leader in its group.

Yesterday on March 8 the match between sledge hockey teams of Russia and Korea was held. The match was decided by penalty shootouts. Russia lost with the score 3:2. During the first period the match took place near the Korean net. Russian players attacked and Korean players were saved by their goaltender six times. The first period came to the end and it failed to score. But VasiliyVarlakov could support attacking players and kicked the puck to the goaltender’s empty angle. “Goal in the locker room” made by Ugra athlete 14 seconds before the end of the first period received viewers’ ovations.
