National team of Russia will play with world’s top clubs from 7 countries. The participants will be divided in two groups consisting of four teams each. Russia is included in group B together with the USA, Italy and Germany. Group A consists of Canada, Czech Republic, Norway and Japan. At the group stage each team will play three matches within its quartet. According to their results four national teams will play in the quarter-finals. In the quarter-finals and semi-finals the winner will be chosen according to the results of one match. The national teams which win their semi-final will fight for the gold medal in the final. The national teams which lose their semi-final matches will play for the third place. Silver medal winners of the Paralympic Games Sochi 2014 Vladimir Litvinenko, Vasilii Varlakov, Nikolai Terentiev, bronze medal winner of the World Championships 2013 Andrei Sokolov, goaltender of SHC "Ugra" Evgenii Plotnikov are the members of the national team of Russia. A short time ago in November 2014 Ugra club played at this ice rink in Buffalo. At that international competition “Ugra” won all the matches and received the winner’s cup. - Director of sledge hockey club “Ugra” Eduard Isakov says. - We hope that the known rink will help our guys to set themselves up for a good play and they can properly represent our Okrug. I am glad that every year the number of athletes from Ugra increases in the national team of Russia. If at the last World Championships 2013 in South Korea, where Russia won the bronze medal, the national team included three players from the sledge hockey club “Ugra”. In the year 2014 at the Paralympic Games in Sochi, when Russian ice sledge hockey players won the silver medal, "Ugra" was represented by four players. And on the main world competitions held this season the Russian national team will include five sledge hockey players from “Ugra”. It is a pity that Konstantin Shikhov is recovering after surgery and he is not able to participate in the World Championships. Certainty he is worth playing”. According to the preliminary schedule, on April 26 in the group stage the Russian team will play with the team of the USA, next day - with Italian team, on April 29 - with the team of Germany. The quarter-finals will be held on April 30, the semi-finals - on May 3. According to the coach of the SHC "Ugra" Aleksandr Zykov, the Russian team has a chance to win the gold medal: “In 2013 Canada won the gold medal and the USA - the silver medal. Our national team has one victory over the Americans at the Paralympic Games in Sochi. This year the Russian team won from the Canadian team at the international competitions. I would like to wish good luck to the Russian team and coaches at these important competitions.”
