Today on December 14, within the International Sledge Hockey Tournament “Ugra Cup” three matches were held.

Today on December 14, within the International Sledge Hockey Tournament “Ugra Cup” three matches were held.

The team of Udmurtia beat “Slovakia” 6 goals to 0. The team of Czech Republic won Poland by 8 to 0.

But the most exciting game of the day was the match between “Ugra” and “Phoenix” (Moscow Region). In the second minute of the first period Ugra sledge hockey players conceded opponents’ fast puck. In the second period our team tried to tie the score, several times the puck appeared near the net of the tournament hosts – hit a goal post, came in centimeters from the net, it seemed that our team was lacked luck. The team of Moscow Region also held its ground and the second period ended 2:0 for “Phoenix”. “The third period is our period! - cried spectators supporting Ugra sledge hockey players. Everybody held hope that “Ugra” could tie the score and perhaps come forward. But the fortune was on the side of Moscow Region. And despite efforts of our athletes “Phoenix” increased the lead and in the sixth minute of the period the score was 4:0.

The fans supported “Ugra” as best they could: “Puck! Puck! – cried they from the stands. And in the seventh minute of the period Aleksandr Chalin kicked the first goal into the opponents’ net. The players of Moscow Region continued their attacks. And in the 11^th minute of the period the score became 5:1. Ugra players fought to the last and in the13^th minute of the period Mikhail Mokretsov kicked one more puck. The match ended with the score 5:2. Ugra sledge hockey players lost the game but the spectators rose in applause.

Two strongest teams of Russia met in this match, – comments Eduard Isakov, president of sledge hockey club “Ugra”. – This was exciting game; during the match sledge hockey players kicked the puck near Ugra net and near the hosts’ net. Our guys played worthy but the fortune was on “Phoenix” side today. We hope for success of our team in next games. The guys should recollect themselves, make certain conclusions and show everything they can.”

Tomorrow at 19:00 “Ugra” will play with the team of Udmurtia. Come and support our athletes!
