28.01.2013 “Bronze” in sledge hockey

“Bronze” in sledge hockey Athlete of the Sports Centre for the Disabled of Ugra Vasiliy Varlakov, playing as a member of the team of Russia, received “bronze” medal in the International Sledge Hockey Tournament in the USA.

Athlete of the Sports Centre for the Disabled of Ugra Vasiliy Varlakov, playing as a member of the team of Russia, received “bronze” medal in the International Sledge Hockey Tournament in the USA.

The competition was held between the strongest teams of the world – the teams of the USA, Korea, Russia and youth national team of the United States of America.

On the first day Russian players met Korea and defeated 4:2 in keen fight. The second game of the sledge hockey players of Russia was played with the world and Paralympics champions – the team of the USA. The hosts of the tournament won 4:0. In the match with the youth national team of the USA Russian team won 5:1, and as a result it became the third in this competition.

“The team of Russia has met the teams of “A” league for the first time and this competition showed to the players what they should work forward. – comments Eduard Isakov, deputy of the Duma of the Autonomous Okrug, director of the Sports Centre for the Disabled of Ugra. - There is not better training than the competition with stronger teams which have been playing sledge hockey for many years and have broad experience.”

The next start of Russian sledge hockey players is the international tournament which takes place in Italy from February 1 to February 10. Two athletes from Ugra – forward Konstantin Shikhov and defender Vasiliy Varlakov, will play in the team of Russia.
