At the end of the first period Aleksey Petrov managed to score with Nikolai Terentiev’s assistance. Two minutes later another defender of “Ugra” Denis Batiuk scored after Terentiev’s pass. “Ugra” also won the second period. In the second minute Kostya Shikhov made the second goal by his sole run through the rink and finished his attack with a perfect shot to Kozlovskiy’s net. In the third period “Ugra” showed exciting attacking play but nobody managed to score. As a result our team won 4:0. According to the coach of SHC “Ugra” Aleksey Buzyrev it was the first match of SHC “Ugra” in this season and it was successful. “The match was dynamic with many power fights and tense moments. It was good that the players made a reserve in the beginning of the match and managed to win it. Today, our goalkeeper Evgeniy Plotnikov shut the door for the first time in this Championship. Tomorrow we will play with the team “Star” from Moscow city. The member of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the president of SHC “Ugra” Eduard Isakov came to the Championship to support Ugra sledge hockey players. In his commencement speech he placed emphasis on the importance of each match of these competitions and motivated the team for dedicated play. “The Championship of Russia sums up the results of hard training of the athletes. These are qualifying competitions where the chief coach of the national team of Russia chooses the players who are ready to take part in international competitions and can be potential participants of the Paralympic Games. - Eduard Isakov comments. - Unfortunately, the solemn opening ceremony of the 1st stage of the Championship of Russia was not held although it was scheduled. The reason for this was that the chief coach of the national team of Russia Sergey Samoilov was absent in connection with his working trip abroad. Moreover, the representatives of the Federation of Athletes with Musculoskeletal Disabilities did not come. I am sure that the opening ceremony of the all-Russian championship is an important part of the competitions. The ceremony of flag raising with the national anthem of the Russian Federation is very important for the teams’ determination, morale building and patriotism sense. It was necessary to hold the ceremony in spite of the fact that the officials were absent. As for our team, "Ugra" surely started its play at the Championship. To defeat Orenburg team led by Sergey Samoilov, a part-time chief national coach, means that our players have high level of training and are ready to win”. According to the results of the first day of the Championship “Polar Bears” (Moscow) won from “Phoenix-2” (Moscow Oblast) with the score 1:0, Udmurtia defeated “Star” (Moscow) with the score 5:0. It should be reminded that the 1st stage of Sledge Hockey Championship of Russia is held in Aleksin, Tula Oblast from October 17 till October 25.
